When you ski with CMH Heliskiing, you are skiing with the most experienced and sophisticated Heli-Ski operator in the world. We offer nearly 16,000 km of pristine, backcountry terrain to ski in the Columbia Mountains of British Columbia, Canada.

Heliskiing began with CMH in 1965, and we are still leaders among operators world-wide. Our playground is British Columbia's backcountry, renowned among Heli-Ski enthusiasts world-wide. We operate lodges to access 12 different areas of these spectacular mountains: Adamants; Bobbie Burns; Bugaboos; Cariboos; Galena; Gothics; Kootenay; McBride; Monashees; Revelstoke; Silvertip; and Valemount. Each of these lodges combines desireable creature comforts with quick access to the best heli-skiing there is. Lodges feature comfortable accommodations, exquisite cuisine, spa facilities, massage therapy, a retail shop, and more. Many of our lodges also have some computer/wireless network access, although we encourage our guests to leave their daily concerns behind as much as they are able.

We offer several different types of Heli Ski programs:

Powder Light: Using one Bell 407 Helicopter with a capacity of 15 guests (3 groups of 5 skiers each), this program features a smaller helicopter moving fewer skiers over more terrain. The guaranteed vertical is 30,500 m (100,000 ft). Additional skiing above the guarantee is $98/1000 m (3,280 ft) and refunds are $105/ 1000 m (3,280 ft).

Powder Introduction: Designed to get those strong intermediate skiers up to Heli- Skiing speed, Powder Introduction isn’t for beginner level skiers, or skiers who are taking up the sport after being inactive for several years. It is a great boost, though, for skiers who have put in 20 to 30 days on the slopes per season for several recent seasons.

Powder Masters: While Heli-Skiers are forever young in heart and mind, the rest of the mechanism doesn’t always get the message. We designed the Powder Masters program to keep skiers on the slopes as long as the spirit is willing. This program emphasizes quality of skiing over quantity of vertical feet (but, as always, stresses safety above all). Its 2 guides and a maximum of 10 guests per group insure a high level of personal attention.

Private Groups: Exclusive use of a helicopter and two guides — with unlimited vertical metres of skiing at their disposal — allows private groups of up to 4 or 10 guests (depending upon location) tremendous flexibility in setting their own pace and choosing the amount of skiing they want to do.

Poker in the Mountains: Our first “Powder and Poker” week will be held at the Adamants from April 22-29, 2006. This unique holiday will be a regular week of Heli-Skiing but we will also be joined by Phil Gordon, World Poker Tour Winner, author, co-host of Celebrity Poker Showdown and philanthropist. Phil will be delivering his much sought after lecture series each night after skiing. Lessons will be put into practice in nightly tournaments and a champion will be crowned at the end of the week. Each “Powder and Poker” player will be required to purchase $500 (plus GST) of fun chips for the tournament. This money will be collected at the lodge. At the end of the week the champion will have all the money donated in his or her name to “Put a Bad Beat on Cancer”, Phil’s charity initiative.

CMH trips range from the standard 7-day trip to shorter 3-, 4-, or 5-day trips, as well as a few longer 8- and 10-day trips. See CMH's Dates & Prices page for more information.

CMH emphasizes safety above anything else. We offer competent, highly trained guides and helicopter pilots specializing in mountain flying to ensure that our guests' safety is our top priority. As well, CMH has developed a comprehensive snow and avalanche management system, including procedures for collecting weather and snow information, evaluating snowpack stability, assessing hazards in the terrain, and determining an appropriate skiing program tailored to on-the-ground conditions.
